Maddy's 2nd litter
|
|
On the 24th August 2007, Maddy went into
labour, but something wasn't quite right. She was obviously having
problems, so we took her straight to Chine House Vets and saw Con. He gave
her a shot of Oxytocin but that didn't help so Con said he would have to
deliver the pups by ceasarian. Maddy had 7 healthy pups, 5 chocolate and 2
black, all a good size. We took Maddy home at 8.00pm and settled her down
in the whelping box with her pups. We weighed and tagged the pups the next
day. Maddy had her stitches removed ten days later.

Maui's 1st litter
|
|
|
At 5.35pm on the 16th March 2007, Maui's
first pup came into the world. She wasn't too sure what do with her at
first, but with a little help her maternal instinct soon kicked in. Over
the next 4 1/2 hours, Maui gave birth to a total of 11 puppies, 6 black
and 5 chocolate. We were all amazed at how many pups she had and were
slightly worried that she would not be able to cope with such a big
litter. We had visions of sitting up all night bottle feeding some of the
pups, but we needn't have worried. Maui was a fantastic mum and all the
pups survived.

Maddy's 1st litter
|
|
At 3.40pm on the 22nd August 2006, Maddy gave
birth to her first pup. We had set up a camera so that we could watch
everything without disturbing her in the whelping box. However, the first
we knew about it was when we heard a squeaking noise coming from the room.
There in the box, we saw Maddy licking her first born. During the next 7
1/2 hours she gave birth to another 8 pups, and we never actually saw any
of them being born. Unfortunately, one of the pups was stillborn and there
wasn't anything we could do for the pup.

Star (Alfie)
|
|
|
Maddy had 4 dogs and 4 bitches, 1 of the
dogs was black, all the others were chocolate.
|
|
As soon as Maddy had cleaned up each pup,
we weighed them and logged their time of birth. We also tied different
coloured ribbons on each pup so that we could identify them and keep
records of their weight each day. After the last pup was born, we settled
Maddy down in the whelping box with her pups.
|
|
Maddy turned out to be a brilliant
mother, we didn't have to do much at all for the first few weeks, she did
everything!! The fun started when we started to wean the pups at about 3
weeks old.

Diamond (Hogarth)
Hogie was the only black dog from
Maddy's first litter and looks just like his dad Frank. When
Jennie, Stuart and the boys, Conner and Louie first came to see
him at 4 weeks old, they instantly fell in love with him. He has
turned into a really handsome dog and is enjoying his new life in
Newbury.
"Hogie
has settled in well, he slept all night with no noise and has
nearly figured out the newspaper. Louie has worn him out
already this morning, and they’ve just settled down together to
watch a bit of TV."
"I’ve
already got him to sit on command and he’s had a tiny bit of
minced steak and carrot this morning with his kibble."
"Thanks
very much for a lovely gentle dog"

Legend (Jasper)
Jasper was the first born, our
very first puppy from our very first litter. He too has turned
into a handsome dog and now lives in Solihull with Mark, Jane and
Abbie.
"Just thought I would
drop you a line to let you know how Jasper is getting on.. well
what can I say? Just that he is a star, so lovely.. he's getting
everything right with his house training, I cant quite believe it,
we all know when poos coming because he goes barmy running round like
a mad thing so that's a good sign for us to pop him outside! He is
having puppy meat with his kibble he loves it, wolfs it down! He's
really growing! Every time he wakes up I'm sure he has grown a bit
more! All in all I'm really glad you brought him into our lives!

Agnik Angel (Molly)
Molly lives just a few miles away
from us with Rod, Jill and their 2 children Michael and Angel. She
was the seventh puppy from Maddy's first litter and being so close
to us, we get to see her regularly.
"Molly is growing
rapidly, everyone we meet says how gorgeous she is, we think so
too but we are biased!
We started training classes
last week and Angel has taught her to sit and wait before meals
and to lie down from sitting. She is also retrieving and bringing
a ball quite well till she gets distracted by a moving leaf or
something just as simple!"

Star (Alfie)
Alfie really is a star! He has
been the perfect puppy with his new family, Pauline, Gary, Ben,
Josh, George and Charlie. They live in Enfield and regularly keep
us updated on Alfie's progress.
"Can't believe it is 4
weeks since we got Alfie. Feels like we have had him for ever. He
continues to amaze us with his un-puppy like behaviour. At the
vets today (we got him chipped) they could not believe how well
behaved he was."
"We start puppy training
in 2 weeks time but almost a waste of time!!! He already sits,
waits, lies down and leaves!! He has been clean and dry at night
from day 1, and has always slept right through. We are 90% there
with his house training during the day."
"We have finished puppy
pals, and will be enrolling in the advanced class soon. He has
been the perfect puppy at home. We have never had an accident at
night, and he quickly learnt to be clean during the day."
"We are so happy to have
Alfie in our lives."
